Douglas Electrical Components Adds Second Manufacturing Facility
Douglas Electrical Components, Inc., a US manufacturer of custom hermetic connectivity solutions, announces the opening of a second manufacturing site in Randolph, NJ. The site expansion is the result of Douglas’ continued growth and expansion in a variety of markets and industries.
Douglas’ current site at 5 Middlebury Blvd., Randolph, NJ, has a total of 29,000 square feet, with approximately 16,000 square feet dedicated to manufacturing. The company has operated at this location since 2008. As industry applications require more solutions for harsh conditions, customer demand has increased consistently over time for Douglas’ hermetic capabilities to warrant expansion.
“This expansion is a strategic investment in our future and commitment to our customers,” explained Ed Douglas, President of Douglas Electrical Components. “We are excited to add capacity to reach our full potential with our customers, vendors, employees, and community.”
The new site is located at 3 Aspen Drive in Randolph, NJ; it is within the same industrial complex as Douglas’ current location to minimize logistical challenges and share resources across functions; Douglas will continue to employ a cell-based manufacturing setup and LEAN manufacturing model to optimize the layout, space, and flow. Select manufacturing cells will transition in their entirety with no equipment or personnel changes. The new space will add 6,400 square feet to support existing and new customers; 4,000 square feet of the site will be dedicated to manufacturing.
Douglas Electrical Components also has a manufacturing facility in Newburyport, MA through the July acquisition of Electronic Products (EPI). The hermetic glass-to-metal and ceramic seal manufacturing facility is approximately 26,500 square feet. With the additional space at 3 Aspen Drive, Douglas will now serve its customers through three sites with over 61,000 total square feet.
Douglas Electrical Components expects the facility to be fully operational by January 1, 2023.
