PFW (plug) and RFW (receptacle) series sealed connectors offer a combination of mechanical and electrical flexibility to design a plug-and-play electrical connection that is hermetic and moisture-tight. Douglas Electrical will start with the connector type required for the application; options include circular MIL-spec and industrial connectors, push-pull connectors, high-voltage connectors, and fiber optic connectors. The connector can be mechanically integrated into the flange or hardware of choice for flange mounting, bulkhead mounting, or threaded options for integration in whatever form is required. By integrating the flange or housing into the connector assembly, customers can reduce potential leak paths and save on hardware adaptations. The mechanical interface is available in a variety of materials based on customer and application needs and can be specified for vacuum or pressure applications. Material certs are available upon request.

The connector is backpotted with integral wires or cables. The wire gauge, type, and length can be customized to customer specifications. Douglas Electrical can also integrate other connectors or harness wires into the assembly per customer specifications. This reduces the number of components sourced per system and ensures all electrical and hermetic testing is completed at Douglas by our IPC-620 certified operators. Our RFW series hermetic connector-to-wire assemblies are manufactured in our Randolph, NJ facility.

FAQ

Can Douglas Electrical Components customize the housing material?

Yes, Douglas uses various housing materials including stainless steels, aluminum, brass, specialty alloys, plastics, and anodized aluminum materials to satisfy customer-specific needs. Combining in-house CNC machining with a robust supply chain of vendors allows us to support virtually any housing requirement.

Are there more connectors than those shown on the website?

Yes. Because of the custom nature of our products, Douglas supports thousands of configurations of connectors and hermetic assemblies. Due to the volume of product types, Douglas tries to focus on the message to our customers that we will hermetically seal virtually any non-hermetic connector on the market to their exact specifications. Additionally, our team can offer recommendations for a hermetic connector assembly solution that meets performance and budget needs.
