While M12 and M23 push-pull connectors gained popularity in the industrial automation industry, their usage is increasing across a broader range of industries. With this wider adoption, Douglas Electrical Components has introduced various designs that utilize the connection type and create hermetic connector, cable, and wire assemblies to meet customer needs.

The first option would be a hermetic bulkhead connector.  This is commonly designed using a face seal with a plug, receptacle, wire leads, or cable assembly on each end of the assembly. These face seals incorporate any type of M12 or M23 connector for easy of integration into new or existing designs. Wire gauge, color, and length can all be customized within the assembly to customer specifications. Additionally, Douglas can seal a cable assembly directly within the cable and connector ends on each side. This option allows for a higher density feedthrough where multiple connection points can fit within a single bulkhead connection.

An M12 hermetic connector can be integrated as a wire bushing assembly. This is common with instrumentation and controls, where customers are either integrating within the instrumentation or connecting to transmitters or devices. Threaded fittings can be added to the assembly so conduit can be installed over the cable, decreasing overall wiring and installation time. Additionally, Douglas Electrical partners with customers to customize assemblies for hazardous locations.
