While coaxial cable and connectors are a commodity item, coaxial, or coax, connections are vital in several industries requiring a hermetic connection point.   Douglas Electrical Components manufactures custom hermetic coaxial feedthroughs to operate in vacuum environments.  Customers can choose from a variety of connection types and select a standard or custom bulkhead mechanical interface.  Douglas’ engineering team will work with you to integrate the coaxial wire and/or connectors into the bulkhead fitting. Our vacuum feedthrough designs are focused on applications interfacing with a glovebox or vacuum chamber. While SMA high frequency feedthroughs are a popular choice, Douglas can hermetically seal virtually any coaxial connector including BNC, MCX, MHV, Type N, SHV, SMA, SMC, TNC, UHF, and more.

We will build our multi-port assemblies to reduce the overall footprint and number of penetrations within a chamber.

FAQ

Does Douglas offer miniature hermetic coaxial feedthroughs?

Douglas Electrical Components can manufacture miniature hermetic coaxial feedthroughs with a jam-nut type assembly.  Overall, we traditionally package our feedthroughs for vacuum environments as a complete assembly with multiple coaxial connection points.

Additionally, Douglas has the design capability to integrate other types of connectors into the same coax feedthrough assembly, such as D-sub, RJ-45, and Micro-D connectors.

What is the typical lead time for a coaxial hermetic feedthrough?

Lead time is dependent on the level of customization of the design as well as sourcing of non-stock items.  Overall, our lead time is typically 6 weeks AAO (after acceptance of order).
