What is a hermetic thermocouple feedthrough?

A hermetic thermocouple feedthrough is a type of electrical feedthrough that is designed to provide a hermetic seal for a thermocouple wire as it passes through a sealed environment. Douglas Electrical Components manufactures hermetic thermocouple feedthroughs with various mechanical interfaces to pass conductors through or connect two connectors across the bulkhead assembly.

Why should I choose an epoxy-based thermocouple feedthrough?

Epoxy-based feedthrough provide a tremendous amount of design flexibility to integrate either wires or connectors. Douglas Electrical uses a low-outgassing hermetic epoxy to seal across the bulkhead or fitting. Epoxy feedthroughs operate over a variety of temperatures and pressures while providing an extremely high level of customization for low, medium, and high volume applications.

I have a connector specified in my system. Can Douglas integrate it into my assembly?

Yes. Douglas Electrical Components uses an epoxy-based sealing technology that hermetically seals to virtually any connector on the market. For customers with existing harnesses, Douglas can integrate a mating hermetic connector interface to meet the application requirements.

Does Douglas offer different vacuum flanges?

Yes, Douglas can machine a vacuum flange from a variety of materials, depending on the application. We have in-house CNC machining capability to keep costs and lead time competitive.

What is the lead time of a thermocouple feedthrough?

Lead time is dependent on the mechanical and electrical connection choices, but for small quantities, Douglas offers a standard lead time of 4-6 weeks AAO. Expedites are commonly available to deliver to your expectations.

How can I integrate other electrical connections?

Our low outgassing epoxy technology allows a great amount of flexibility to integrate various electrical interfaces into a a single assembly. Additionally, Douglas can manufacture a larger Portplate assembly to accommodate multiple electrical connections into a single mechanical interface.
