While M8, M12 and M23 push-pull connectors gained popularity in the industrial automation industry, their usage is increasing across a broader range of industries. M8, M12 and M23 connectors are also available in hermetic versions at Douglas Electrical Components. We provide hermetic feedthroughs for M8, M12, and M23 connectors, designed for sensors, instrumentation, and diverse applications to meet customer needs. Our hermetic M8 connectors, M12 hermetic connectors, and hermetic M23 connectors are engineered for reliable performance in challenging environments, ensuring secure and durable connections.
The first option would be a hermetic bulkhead connector. This is commonly designed using a face seal with a plug, receptacle, wire leads, or cable assembly on each end of the assembly. These face seals incorporate any type of M8 electrical connector, M12 connectors or M23 bulkhead connector for ease of integration into new or existing designs. Wire gauge, color, and length can all be customized within the assembly to customer specifications. Additionally, Douglas can seal a cable assembly directly within the cable and connector ends on each side. This option allows for a higher density feedthrough where multiple connection points can fit within a single bulkhead connection.
A hermetic M8 connector, M12 hermetic connector, or hermetic M23 connector can be integrated as a cable bushing assembly. This is common in instrumentation and controls, where customers either integrate them within the instrumentation or connect them to transmitters or devices. Threaded fittings can be added to the assembly, allowing conduit installation over the cable and decreasing overall wiring and installation time.
Douglas Electrical Components partners with customers to customize hermetic feedthroughs and assemblies, providing tailored solutions for hazardous locations and specific industry needs.

FAQ
Can Douglas hermetically seal an M12 cable assembly?
Yes. Douglas Electrical can integrate connectors, wires, or cable assemblies within a bulkhead fitting or wire bushing. Use the contact us form, chat, or call to discuss your application requirements; our team can customize the design.
What is the standard IP-rating for Douglas M12 connectors?
IP-rating is typically related to pressure applications. If the M12 hermetic connector requires an IP-rating, Douglas can manufacture and test to an IP-68 standard. Additionally, we manufacture these connectors and cable assemblies for vacuum applications, with helium leak testing.
What are the types of bulkhead fittings available for M12 and M23 connectors?
Douglas Electrical can machine bulkhead fittings in-house to accommodate customer requirements. 1″-20 UNF-2A threads are common in vacuum applications for hermetically sealing a feedthrough. NPT threads such as 1/2″ NPT are common in industrial and hazardous locations.
