CF (ConFlat*) flanges use a clamping mechanism to hermetically seal a copper gasket between the chamber wall and the feedthrough. This minimizes the effect of tightening the housing rather than the jamnut in a vacuum face seal design. A series of bolts secure the feedthrough directly to the chamber wall. CF flanges can be more time consuming to install and uninstall than a KF-style flange, with specialty tooling and know-how. Our CF feedthroughs are mounted from the atmospheric side of the chamber, giving greater accessibility to the user to install the feedthrough properly.

Douglas Electrical Components manufactures hermetic electrical feedthroughs utilizing a CF flange to create convenient mounting and installation. Our vacuum rated CF feedthroughs are available in various electrical connections including connectors, wires, cables, and optical fibers.

Our epoxy technology permits us to not only create high density feedthroughs, but also combine multiple interfaces into the same feedthrough flange, reducing overall feedthrough cost and saving space. This can be as simple as integral thermocouple wire to connectorized harnesses with integral shielding, strain relief, and sleeves.

Our CF feedthroughs provide further flexibility with their ability to have different electrical interfaces on each side of the chamber. Many customers will combine connectors with integral wires to simplify installation in or out of a vacuum chamber. Douglas can integrate the exact conductors you need to transmit power or signal.

Work with our technical sales engineers to confirm the electrical connection you prefer and we’ll design and quote the feedthrough that best aligns to your needs. Additionally, we offer competitive lead times with expedites as low as one week possible.

FAQ

Does Douglas Electrical Components stock CF feedthroughs?

No, but we do offer competitive lead times with expedites possible. Contact us for a quote.

What are the advantages of a CF flange?
  • Standard sizes/interfaces; equipment commonly pre-designed with CF flange interface
  • Installation from outside the chamber
  • Vacuum rated with low leak rates

What are some disadvantages of CF flanges?

  • Bulky
  • Time consuming and cumbersome to install
  • Gasket pricing can be expensive
Do you offer other flanges?

Yes. Douglas can offer virtually any flange type. Similar to CF flanges, Douglas offers KF/QF flanges for vacuum feedthrough applications. Additionally customers can specify NPT, radial O-ring, SAE, and other mechanical interfaces that operate in vacuum and positive pressure applications.
